The (proud?) new owner of a Fanny Pack!

So I finally bit the bullet...and bought myself a fanny pack. Before the fun-making begins, let me tell you a few things: no, they didn't come in flourescent yellow or acid-wash denim. And yes, there are people who think they are actually cool. And they are called 'waist packs' not 'fanny packs' (that's so 80's).
I suppose I'll need to explain this a little...I've been taking a 'learn to run' course at the Running Room (highly recommended!) Each week you run a little more and walk a little less, and at the end of the course you are able to run for 10 minutes, take a one-minute walking break, and then keep on with another 10 of running. I'm not quite there yet, but we still have a couple weeks left of class.
At any rate, I figured running was a pretty simple sport. All you really need are some good running shoes, right? Wrong. You need the watch that keeps track of your heart rate, lap time and location via GPS. You need the CoolMax clothing to 'wick away the sweat,' or something made of spandex. And you need the fanny...er, waist pack to carry your water bottle, cell phone, and health care card (in case you trip on your shoelace and snap your leg).
All the other stuff can wait - right now I'm enjoying my fanny pack!

ps: they really are cool in the running world...back me up on this one, Reggie!

word to the wise--i saw some of those double-layered socks at Sears. They're the house brand (jessica) so they're cheap, but they look decent... Just in case those Running Roomers are reaming out your wallet a little too much!
