Just an Update

Things are certainly rolling along here...we're keeping busy with church stuff and haven't had much time to do more exploring in the area.
We're heading up to Niagara Falls the week after next for a Pastors' and Deacons' Conference, which should be good fun. We're going to squeeze in an overnight visit with Murray's friend Dan in Toronto, which will leave us with a quick drive to Niagara on the Monday. I hear they have a good candy store there (note the new link to "my favourite place in the whole world.")
In other news, I have learned how to make cabbage rolls! I've been helping the ladies do some cooking for the Christmas Bazaar, and one of the things we're making is cabbage rolls. Of course, they're made in huge batches-about 42 pounds of meat at a time- and I've been assured that they're the best anywhere (unlike the rolls sold by other churches at their bazaars which have no flavour and are mostly rice...)
My hands smell like garlic, onions, paprika, and raw meat. The church smells like cabbage, which is not the most welcome smell as we walk out our door each morning, but we'll be done making them in a few weeks.
Until then, I'm thankful for Pier 1 smelly candles and Aveda smelly hand cream!

If you can't stand the heat, stay out of Kitchener.

I can hardly belive that we have been living in Ontario for almost two months. We've gotten new plates for the car and drivers' licenses, so we're ready to tear up the 401 legit-style.
Anyone who has done the inter-provincial move for vicarage can attest to the fact that it seems like such a pain to go through all that for the sake of a year... I guess I was approaching Murray's vicarage as a temporary thing - and it is - but this somehow made it seem less temporary. Like ties with 'home' were being cut.

Well, if there is any consolation here, it's that this angry-looking photo on my driver's license will be replaced next year!

In totally unrelated news...I went to Kitchener (hence the title of this post - Murms thought it was pretty lame, but it made me laugh). Some of the deacons from Southern Ontario were there, as well as Pastor Hennig. It was fun.

I went with our pastor's wife to a retreat for pastors' wives in Orangeville, which is up by Toronto, last week. We stayed at a really nice retreat centre out in the middle of nowhere - the colours were starting to change...our first taste of fall in Ontario!
